Hence, a couple of weekends ago, we enjoyed a televised episode of The Penguins of Madagascar together.
One of my favorite characters in the series is the lemur king Julien, who is so terribly self-absorbed that it becomes immensely entertaining. In the episode he had got his hands on a yoyo, which he started using with the following words: "Practice is for those who are not perfect" - whereafter he got himself hopelessly tied up in the string of the yoyo.
There is wisdom to be extracted from watching King Julien and his immense belief in his own perfection. Because it shows us that even if one thinks himself perfect, it's rarely the truth. And therefore there is always room - and need - for practice.
